Working Conditions;
Full time employee.
Salary position.
Hours; 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday thru Friday. Harvest season will require overtime hours and weekend hours. Schedule to be determined by management.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This position will be responsible for assisting the merchant and manager in corn, soybean and wheat originations for the MAC Newaygo facility from both producer, and commercial accounts. Additionally, this individual will handle the operations of the truck scales, for both inbound and outbound shipments. Handling various customer service related issues, accounting, and marketing of all the company’s services.
DIMENSIONS:
Newaygo handles over 3 million bushels of grain and oilseeds. In addition Newaygo sells seed corn, seed soybeans and seed wheat.
BACKGROUND:
This is an entry-level position into our organization. The successful candidate should possess outstanding people skills, ample abstract reasoning aptitude and a high degree of customer service orientation. Agricultural background would be nice, but not necessary. Areas of education in accounting, marketing, communication, operations would be helpful as well.
Physical Requirements;
Physical condition must not limit ability to climb, or lift at least 50#. Good vision and hearing are essential to personal safety and the safety of co-workers. Safety is a priority in performing all company functions. All company policies and procedures are to be followed.
JOB PARAMETERS:
This position reports directly to the manager of the facility, along with dotted line reporting responsibility to the senior merchant. Principal accountabilities of this position include:
1) Operation of scale room for both inbound and outbound grain. Including weighing and grading.
2) Assist with the purchase of grain and oilseed, both delivered to Newaygo facility and on a FOB basis within the proper guidelines, policies and procedures established by the organization.
3) Maintain contact with customers by phone, and occasional personal visits, and effectively promote MAC, along with our programs and services.
4) Handle inbound truck logistics; fob various producer and commercial locations, into the Newaygo location.
5) Work closely with the merchants to facilitate customer service, both on the phone and in person.
6) Maintain a pleasant and courteous attitude at all times and promote cooperation and communications with fellow employees, customers, and other MAC personnel and facilities.
7) Make sales calls to producer customers within targeted draw area; provide assistance in the education of producer customers through implementation of marketing meeting seminars.
8) Become familiar with how grain moves through the plant. Will require the applicant to spend time working in the plant.
9) Other duties as needed within the operation.
