Chris Betz

Meet Chris Betz!

Chris has been with MAC for five years. Today, Chris wears a variety of hats in his role as the MAC Wheat Trader, Risk Manager, and Market Analyst. He started at MAC as the Corporate Hedger and then moved on to trading some off-farm bushels, as well as helping with wheat logistics. He has since taken on a larger role in trading the MAC wheat deck, and is now transitioning into the sole wheat trading role [with the retirement of Bruce Sutherland].

With a Bachelors in Agri-Business and a minor in Economics from Michigan State University, Chris brings ideal experience to his role. He also worked in insurance as a CSR and underwriter prior to coming to MAC.

When asked his favorite thing about working in the agricultural industry, Chris quickly said the people. He cites there is a shared work ethic and sense of purpose within ag that makes it a great industry to be part of. Chris also shares that his favorite part of working for MAC is being part of the “MAC family,” which he’s found to be close knit and a great group of people to work with.

Outside of work, Chris has coached soccer at various levels since college and continues that today. In his free time, he enjoys playing guitar, snowboarding, mountain biking, golfing and playing soccer as well. His favorite Michigan destination is Mackinac Island, and if he’s looking to have his favorite breakfast, it’s eggs benedict.

As Chris continues to expand in his role at MAC, he is looking forward to having a bigger impact from the wheat desk, as well as continuing to work closely with MAC mill and rail customers.

We’re so glad to have him on our team!
