Retirement: John Ezinga
News is out that John Ezinga has announced his retirement from MAC on June 30, 2026. John started as a Grain Merchant and worked his way up through many roles in our company. He has been the Facility Manager in Middleton for years and since 2021 has also served in a company leadership capacity as the Vice President of Agronomy & Business Development. Upon John’s retirement, MAC will promote two talented, tenured employees to facility leadership positions as part of its transition plan.
John’s retirement caps off a career spanning almost 30 years at MAC. In addition to his service to MAC, he has been a leader in the industry in Michigan. Every day, John exhibited his passion for agriculture and commitment to helping support local farmers. He did this through his outstanding knowledge and strategic thinking, willingness to continually learn, and excellent customer service.
“John led by example. He was a driving force for not only Middleton, but all of MAC. John shared his passion and knowledge with all our management team members at our monthly meetings, for example. He had a positive effect on everyone,” commented Ted Tucker, Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer.
While we will miss having him on our team every day, we are excited for John to move forward with other endeavors. MAC will continue to provide the outstanding service and performance customers have been accustomed to for 50 years regardless of change.
Effective Wednesday, July 1st, the following new and expanded management roles will be in effect in Middleton and across MAC Agronomy.
- Andrew Greenhoe, Michigan Agronomy Manager
Andrew Greenhoe is an MAC veteran, having over 10-years on the team. He has experience across our agronomy business from customer service and sales to application and operations to purchasing and compliance. Andrew brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this new role.
- Kirk Potter, Middleton Operations Manager
Kirk Potter has been a part of the MAC team for almost three years. He’s spent his career working in agriculture and has quickly learned the ins-and-outs of the grain business during his time at MAC. In July, Kirk’s role will be expanding to broaden responsibilities across the Middleton location.
Like John, both Andrew and Kirk are dedicated to customer success and know the Middleton operation well. They will work collaboratively together, offer customers the ability to continue working with people they know and trust, and build upon the excellent team within MAC. Mackenzy Blair will also remain as a key member of the team as the local Grain Merchant, continuing to work hard and exceed customer expectations.
“We have been lucky to have John on our team. My own first work experience at MAC was during college in Newaygo. At that time, John was the manager/merchant and made sure I had a broom/shovel to keep the basement in the plant clean,” said Adam Geers, Vice President of Operations. “Not only has he shared his expertise with our team and customers, he has also been a great colleague, mentor and friend to many of us.”
Robert Geers, Vice President of Merchandising echoed similar experience. “Having John as my first manager during my college years in Newaygo, I experienced firsthand his passion for agriculture and commitment to helping support local farmers through his knowledge and excellent customer service. This knowledge and customer service mentality laid the foundation for my career and will continue to move MAC forward even after his retirement.”
In looking forward to retirement, John intends to spend more time working on real estate projects from 8:00-5:00, instead of 5:00-9:00. He is also likely to travel and spend more time hunting and fishing.
We appreciate all of John’s hard work over his career and wish him the best in his retirement. With almost 30 years of relationships, experience, and knowledge, he will truly be missed by the entire MAC family!
