The Michigan Agricultural Commodities 15th annual Outlook Conference is approaching. The Outlook Conference will be held on Thursday February 8th, 2018 at the Eagle Eye Banquet Center in Bath, Michigan. The conference is designed to provide our valued customers with key agriculture and marketing information, they can utilize when making decisions on the farm.
This year the conference will feature three keynote speakers; Michael Boehlje, Missy Bauer, and Brian Bastings. Dr. Mike Boehlje is a distinguished professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics and the Center for Food and Agricultural Business at Purdue University. The fundamental focus of his work and intent behind his talk at our conference is to integrate concepts of economics, finance and strategy to solve problems of farm and agribusiness managers. A major theme of Mike’s research, writing and lecturing for the past 10 years has been the importance of strategic planning and thinking, and positioning the firm for long-term viability and success. Mike has devoted his career to helping farm and agribusiness managers and policymakers understand the pragmatic economic and financial consequences of their decisions.
Missy Bauer, co-founder of B&M Crop consulting will be joining us this year to focus on how to manage nutrients during tough economic times and touch subjects such as management zones, soil testing and lime. Missy is a graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Crop and Soil Sciences; she also holds a Master’s Degree from Purdue University in Agronomy under Dr. Tony Vyn. She has learned a lot of her systems approach to farming by working closely with Ken Ferrie. Missy is an active certified crop advisors (CCA).
